Reference Info The Brother® HL-600 series printers and Brother Intellifax fax machines feature a Brother engine, 6 ppm print speed and 300 dpi resolution (printer). The Brother HL-600 series cartridge is a two-piece unit featuring a drum unit and separate toner cartridge that mounts in the drum unit. The drum unit, rated at 16,000 pages, contains the drum, wiper blade, developer roller, transfer roller, doctor blade, primary corona wire and 125 grams of developer material. The developer material is a magnetite and toner mixture that mixes with the toner in the separate toner cartridge to develop the latent image on the drum. Backgrounding, streaking and light print are general indications that the developer material has depleted. The toner cartridge unit is rated at 3,000 pages. For normal usage, approximately five toner cartridges can be consumed during the life of the drum unit (16,000 pages). To remanufacture the toner cartridge, simply replace the seal and fill the cartridge with toner.
