Static Control was given two awards by the North Carolina Department of Labor at the recent Lee County Safety Banquet held June 11 at the City of Sanford Public Works Service Center. The NC Department of Agriculture also attended the banquet, along with several county and city agencies and 17 manufacturing companies from the surrounding area.
The company was honored with an award of special recognition for over one million hours worked last year with no workplace injuries. Static Control was also given the Silver Award for the second consecutive year in recognition of outstanding safety and health efforts.
The Million Hour Award is for companies working at least one million consecutive hours without a lost time injury. As of the end of May, Static Control has worked 1.6 million hours without a lost time injury.
The Silver Award is given to companies who have demonstrated they have an incident rate of at least 50% below the average for its particular industry group for injuries resulting in lost work days.
Static Control’s Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor Debbie Bigelow accepted the awards on behalf of the company. Certificates were handed out by North Carolina’s Commissioner of Labor Cherrie Berry.
“It is an honor to receive a safety award from the North Carolina Department of Labor, which recognizes companies who achieve and maintain outstanding safety records,” said Bigelow. “Static Control has earned safety awards for the past 19 years that I've been here, which demonstrates the commitment of ALL our associates to prevent accidents and work safely every day."
